Oh Summer

I am trying not to think of Summer too soon or I may get anxious for it! With the very warm weather in TX I feel like it's already here.

Lately, Shawn and I have been biking a ton! This will be our second Summer mountain biking and I have learned a lot since last year about how to bike in VERY hot weather. 1. We are going to buy a cooler so our drinks aren't boiling by the time we get back to our car. 2. I need to buy towels that we can sit on so our car doesn't get gross. 3. I need to make better granola bars, just to name a few things.

I believe I have finally come to love, yes love, mountain biking. This is a new feeling for me because I started out mountain biking because it was something that Shawn and I could do together. To be honest I was terrified most of the ride. Jumping over roots, riding down drop offs and squeezing my bike between trees, was not my idea of fun. But what kept me going is how I hated that I was afraid of it. Being afraid of things annoys me; I don't like it. So I kept biking and any time I would get afraid I would get frustrated and would keep going.

But NOW I can't get enough of it. I just want to be out on the trails everyday. Maybe Shawn and I will both go pro....bahaha. I read this article today about a famous girl biker and it put a competitive spirit in me to want to beat her. Why can't I just read something like that and not be affected by it? If she can do it, so can I, right? Anyway, I say all this to say that Shawn and I are going to try to rack up a ton of miles on our bike this summer. I am going to keep track of our miles, from May 14,2011 (the day after all my finals are done), until August 15th,11 (the day before I go back to school). I think last summer we did about 200+ miles. So I am hoping for 500+ this summer! Super excited!
